Information Branch announces arrests in motorcycle-theft and armed-robbery inquiry

The ISF said two people were detained in Kafaat and that investigators were still pursuing other alleged members of the group.

Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces said the Information Branch identified an alleged group linked to armed robbery, chain-snatching and motorcycle theft in several Mount Lebanon areas.

According to the August 22 statement, the branch’s Special Force detained two people in Kafaat on August 10. The ISF said one suspect was injured after allegedly drawing a handgun during the arrest and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The statement said a stolen motorcycle was recovered and returned to its owner. It also said efforts to locate other alleged participants were continuing under judicial instructions.

The accompanying photograph was circulated by the ISF as part of a request for potential victims to contact investigators. The allegations have not been presented here as a final court finding.
